YOUR COTTAGE GUIDE

Make yourself at home.

Simple instructions for the hot tub, indoor woodstove and living-room Sonos speaker.

SOAK & UNWIND

The hot tub.

  1. Shower before using the tub. Use plastic drinkware or cans; keep glass out of the hot-tub area.
  2. Unclip the cover latches facing the lake. Fold the cover back over the middle bar, then gently raise the bar to lift the folded cover into its upright position. Support the heavy cover and do not let it slam onto its holders.
  3. The usual temperature is 100°F. Adjust to your preference, up to the tub’s maximum of 104°F, and return it to 100°F when finished.
  4. After each use, follow the label and the current instructions supplied with the hot-tub oxidizer. Use only the product provided and follow its dosing, jet-cycle and waiting-time directions. If anything is unclear, contact the host before adding chemicals.
  5. Close the cover by reversing the opening steps and secure the latches. Do not sit, stand or place objects on the cover.

Children must be supervised by an adult.

FIRESIDE EVENINGS

The fireplace & woodstove.

The indoor fireplace is a wood-burning stove. Please use the supplied fire starter and hardwood.

  1. Move the stove control to the left to open it, as described in the cottage guide.
  2. Light kindling with the fire starter provided, then add hardwood as the fire establishes. Burn only hardwood such as maple, oak or birch.
  3. To reduce the flame, move the control gradually to the right. Keep the stove door closed during normal burning.
  4. Let the fire burn down before leaving it unattended. The stove remains hot after the flames have died down.

Keep children, pets and belongings away from the hot stove. If you are unsure of the control or smoke enters the room, stop adding wood and contact the host.

SET THE MOOD

The Sonos 5 speaker.

  1. Connect your phone or tablet to the cottage Wi-Fi using the details supplied for your stay.
  2. Open Spotify or your preferred music app and choose its speaker or audio-output menu.
  3. Select Living Room Sonos 5, the speaker name in the cottage guide. On a compatible Apple device, you can also check the AirPlay output menu.
  4. If the speaker does not appear, check that you are on the cottage Wi-Fi and try the Sonos app to find the existing system. Contact the host if you still cannot connect; please do not factory-reset the speaker.
  5. Adjust the volume in your app and pause playback when finished. Keep the volume considerate of other guests and neighbours.
